I think you are right WT. Mookie's boys can cause trouble and make some news, but I don't think they can any longer change the course of the effects of the surge. The Iraqis are feeling the effects of life without constant fighting and terrorism. Hopefully there will be fewer young guys wanting to join or stay with Mookie's loonies. The American backed security forces seem to be getting all the recruits they need.

Nearly 40 years ago I heard rumors of this while in country, seems that they were true. From 1968-73 Military Assistance Command Vietnam, Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) conducted Psyops (Operation Eldest Son, Italian Green and Pole Bean) against the NVA and Communist troops behind the lines in South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos to sabotage enemy ammunition supplies, from small arms up to mortars and grenades. This was the brainchild of Col. John K. Singlaub. a WWII veteran of the OSS. This precluded the SOG from using captured ammunition in their weapons to the extent that they bought Russian made ammunition from a Finnish middleman for their own use. Those SOG commandos won ten Medals of Honor during that time. We were instructed to never pick up any ammo or arms found, theirs or ours as they may have been part of this program. I would hope that a similar program is being instituted in Iraq and Afghanistan to temper the raghead's zeal for all those 72 virgins. Now a good head shot with a .50 Cal would sure mess up Mookies headdress and fix all those bad teeth permantly.

It is contagious. The people in Iraq they see how life is now just like you said!! No fear like they had before and so many things better then ever, they will keep wanting it to be better too I think.

When I first read this story my very first thougtht was maybe a lot of Mookies men have lost their hearing from all the bombs that went off my mistake while they were packing them.
