Interview with Geert Wilders About His Film FITNA
Dutch Parliament Member Geert Wilders has released a controversial film about Islam which some politicians in the Netherlands tried to ban. Wilders has called the Koran, Islam's holy book, a "fascist" book that incites violence.
The film is called "Fitna", a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife". In March 2006, Mr. Wilders told the BBC that he thought that 5-15% of Dutch Muslims were sympathetic to radical Islam.
"I believe we have been too tolerant of the intolerant. We should learn to become intolerant of the intolerant," he said.
Because it is a Dutch film there is a focus on Theo Van Gogh and Dutch newspaper headlines. Wilders now requires a constant security detail due to threats to his life.
A Dutch judge is due on Friday to hear the petition of a Muslim group seeking an independent review of the film to see whether it violates hate speech laws. The petition, seen by The Associated Press Thursday at the Hague District Court, says the Dutch Islamic Federation "believes the situation of Muslims in the Netherlands today is comparable with that of our Jewish fellow-citizens in the 1930s." The federation asked for a fine of €50,000 ($79,000) per day if Wilders airs the film, and a €5,000 ($7,900) fine for each future instance of an "injuring remark."

I hope this man is able to stay safe. I realize he knew the danger of what his film meant to himself but even so to stay silent is also a kind of death.
As long as Muslims applaud and tolerate those who commit terrorism and violence in the name of their religion, Wilders' criticisms will continue to resonate with non-Muslims the world over.

The backlash is coming!!! They've gone over the line and they know it.
We all are free to speak our minds, but I will NOT submit to a religion who tells me to kill other innocents to get to Heaven. NO, I won't!
Our God is an Awesome God. He sacrificed his son for me, so that I might spend all eternity with him in Heaven. Ain't that something else?
Time for us to take back what once was ours. We've allowed too many to take from us and not reciprocate back.

First off Lynn and "darth" say it beautifully and on the mark. At the risk of cheapening the discussion, this film takes on real-life events and it is being silenced but what about the cartoons we watched as kids that you no longer see because they are politically incorrect--there is an old B&W episode of Gilligan's island with a WWII Japanese's soldier with coke bottle glasses and buck teeth...*quietly deleted from the incessant repeats*--the black cook in the rain slicker slip sliding in the kitchen of a 3 stooges short subject. The little Indian that used to be on Buggs Bunny that was more cute and cuddly than warrior. We have been quietly silenced for YEARS and like a frog in the pot the heat has gone up very gradually and few even note the passing. This is far from new but somebody has just turned up the heat a bit too quickly.

Mr Wilders is a very articulate, rational and brave man. I wish we could clone him 535 times and fill our Congress with those clones.
Who is the interviewer. What an idiot! Fox can do better than him.
Sierrahome - On Saturdays, Lemuel at Hillbilly White Trash, shows a cartoon and a PSA or tv commercial from the 50's or 60's. These film clips give you a great idea of how far we have slipped into political correctness. We are definitely less free today to express ourselves than we were 50 years ago.

This is so awful what is happening to this man. It was to be expected but even so to live with the threat on him for telling the truth about the enemy of the entire world........ lots of prayers for him and I pray people don't stop speaking out about Islam.

Sierrahome, you didn't cheapening the discussion at all. No way.
You are right, the America we knew, the shows, the cartoons all of it has changed. Yes slowly inch by inch freedom of speech has been taken over with PC in every area of our lives. I won't give in to it but we can see it everywhere.
This man before he made this film knew the outcome from Islam followers. That is all the more reason I am proud of him for his courage too.

The politicly correct European and American infidel crowd can censor and try to silence this video all that they want. It will live for a long time on the Internet and blogosphere. However, these censors of truth won't be able to feign ignorance or blame someone else the next times the Islamofascists kill tens of thousands.
