Hillary Wants A Gun Summit
Clinton wants a gun summit
Another new wrinkle from Hillary Clinton today: she wants a presidential summit on gun control.
That came up in the Q-and-A session of her stop in De Pere, after a woman asked about dealing with shootings such as the Northern Illinois University carnage.
Clinton started with the line she rolled out a couple days ago about recognizing that there is “no conflict” between letting lawful gunowners have weapons and keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys and the mentally ill.
She went on to propose a solution to coming up with a solution for the problem — kind of like her plan to come up with a plan for fixing another politically difficult problem, Social Security.
“I believe we really should have a summit where everybody comes together on all sides of this issue,” Clinton said. “Let’s figure out how we can be consistent with the Second Amendment, which I wholeheartedly support, and do more to keep people safe.
“I think we can do that, but it’s going to require us all to maybe give a little and understand the point of view of the other people,” she said. “That’s something I would do as President to really bring people together.”
“We know we need better background checks and we know we’ve got to have mental health information in there,” she said.
Wild Thing's comment........
Molon labe
"Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." --Vladimir Ilich Lenin
“I stand in support of this common sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun, I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry." --Hillary Clinton, Jun 2, 2000
Obama has the same anti-gun rights views.
Maybe we can get Dick Cheney to take these two hunting. heh heh

What the heck is she doing? Consistent with the Second Amendment? What does she mean? It's easy to read--the right to bear arms. How can that be misconstrued? While I feel for those killed and injured, it wasn't the guns who did it, it was the idiots behind the guns.
It's sad when we've come to a time when our very own Bill of Rights is under such scrutiny that it will probably be abolished completely for the "Common Good." And we'll let it happen. Then it will be the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, everything will be under control of the government and it won't be "of the people, for the people and by the people." It'll be whatever the government thinks is right and good for you.
Stop this crazy insanity!!!!!!!!!!

I just picked up my latest acquisition yesterday. A Marlin Model 1894C in .357mag. It will complement several of my .357mag revolvers. It looks like John Wayne's famous Winchester.
Even if you don't care for guns, BUY one or several NOW. If possible buy them from a private individual so there is no paper trail. Buy them at a gunshow from a non dealer. If you have to, do buy one at a gun store even though it does leave a paper trail. Also, buy ammo. Plenty of it.
I say this because the two Dem candidates are definitely anti-gun and guarantee much new tough gun legislation if elected. And McCain has already proven to care less about the Bill of Rights and I think that crazy bastard might also be gun restrictive if elected. The next four years look very bad for the freedom of gun ownership.

Why is it when the left wants common sense when it comes to our Rights we always lose.
Think Congress we have nothing to fear if we vote in conservatives. Everybody is worried about Hillary or Obama, it is the House and Senate that does the dirty work as far as restricting our rights.

Hillary Clinton is a staunch anti gun person and has been for years. She has always advocated strict gun control.
Now she says she wants to have a summit between Pro Gun and Anti Gun folks (my choice of words). She wants people to believe that she believes in the Second Amendment………….. Bullshit!!
IMO this may be a strategy on her part to get some pro-gun peoples vote, making them think she will/might meet them part of the way and have a somewhat amicable settlement between both sides. Nothing could be further from the truth. She would side with the anti gun grabbers period. Look at her past record.
I have been retired for about seven years now from law-enforcement after serving 30 years. I worked in one of the most crime ridden Metropolitan areas in the Country and spent 15 years on one of the busiest SRT/SWAT teams in the nation……. and there were 6 teams in the unit. The old saying “a gun in hand is better that a cop on the phone” is so true. I have seen it first hand. You are guaranteed the right to own firearms by the Second Amendment for your protection and no one should be allowed to negotiate that away, it is an inalienable right.
And her statement “I think we can do that, but it is going to require us all to maybe give a little” reminds me of her comments about how may of us are going to have to give up things so she can create more give away social programs, that she would garnish our wages to pay for health care, That she will take this so that others can have that etc. etc.. She is a true socialist.
Tom R is absolutely right in what he says about buying firearms and ammunition while you can. The Democrats and McCain (remember he is a RINO) will pass tough new gun laws, there has even been some talk going around about trying to outlaw private sales of certain firearms. I think maybe the SCOTHUS ruling of the DC gun ban may have a big effect on some future gun laws. Regardless I have a number of friends that are Police Officers and they are trying to buy weapons when they can because they expect our rights under the Second Amendment to be curtailed under a new administration.
Mark is so right when he indicates it will be the House and the Senate that will write and pass the laws, the house and Senate are controlled by the Democrats and will do the bidding of the President. The President will sign it into law.
Stay safe folks.

Amen Mark
Anyone still remember Janet Reno?

Q. Ever wonder about what would happen if a constitutional amendment were proposed repealing the Second Amendment?
A. The left would lose big time. That is why their strategy is to pack the court(s) with collectivists.

Oh speaking of Janet Reno and her midnight raid on an 8 year old boy that so despartely needed to be sent home to be with his communist father.
Too bad Elian and his Mother didn't sneak in through Mexico, then he would now be a citizen, living in Miami with his Cuban relatives and probably being a productive citizen.

Lynn, I agree, we have guns in our home and they have yet to kill anyone. For us they are for protection if that time ever comes.
I always thought our Bill of Rights was something that could not be touched or changed. But lately I have been in doubt with all the push from the left about not wanting anyone to have guns.

Tom thank you, your so right about the next 4 years no matter who becomes President. Before I would have stood strong that the Bill of Rights could never be altered or changed in any way. Not any more, not with all the closed door meetings and secret meetings going on with Bush and the others about amnesty. I see now they do want they want even if we already have laws. It sure is scary to see this all happening.

Wollf thank you so much, that means a lot.
Posted by: Wild Thing at February 20, 2008 11:36 PM
Mark I agree, we have to keep trying to get conservatives elected in the House and Senate. That has always been important to me, but now more then ever.
Posted by: Wild Thing at February 20, 2008 11:38 PM
John 5 (VN69/70), thank you. I will be getting more ammo for sure. Thanks for your input too.

Jack oh yes I sure do remember Janet Reno, she was sooooo horrible.

ΛΕΟΝΙΔΑΣ, nice to meet you. Good question and I agree with you.
We need to keep aware of what is happening.

Mark I agree with you so much about Elian.
