Chertoff Statement on Killing of Border Patrol Agent
Statement by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on the Killing of a Border Patrol Agent in the Line of Duty
Sunday, 20 January 2008 Statement by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on the Killing of a Border Patrol Agent in the Line of Duty
"Earlier today the Border Patrol lost a brave agent assigned to the Yuma Sector in a heinous act of violence. The agent was struck and killed while attempting to stop two vehicles believed to have illegally entered the country and were absconding back into Mexico. Our thoughts and prayers are with the agent's family, and with the entire Border Patrol community. I am outraged by this tragic loss. I have spoken to the Mexican ambassador who gives me both his condolences and deep assurance that their government will be resolute in tracking down the perpetrators, and bringing them to swift justice.
I'm insisting that the full force of the law be used in this investigation. Our Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are already on scene assisting the Border Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in this effort.
Dangerous criminal groups have chosen to respond to our tougher security posture at the border with increased violence. They mistakenly believe that we will give way in the face of violence. We will continue to show them how wrong they are.
The American public stands with the men and women of the Border Patrol, and I am deeply grateful for their heroic service."
Information on what happend:
U.S. Agent Killed At Border Identified
(AP) A U.S. Border Patrol agent killed after being struck by a fleeing vehicle along the border in southeastern California was identified Sunday as a 32-year-old husband and father of two.
Senior Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was trying to stop a suspected smuggler who had illegally entered the country from Mexico when he was hit, according to Agent Michael Bernacke, a spokesman for the agency's Yuma sector.
The incident happened in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area about 20 miles west of Yuma at about 9 a.m. Saturday.
Bernacke said Aguilar was trying to place spike strips in the path of a Hummer and a Ford pickup truck on Interstate 8 when the suspected smuggler's vehicle hit and killed him.
Both vehicles fled into Mexico.
Wild Thing's comment........
But not outraged enough to build that fence. Come on, Chertoff, when are you going to build the fence? How many more BP must be killed? How many more illegal aliens must sneak across? How many more rapes, murders, drunken driving accidents do we need to suffer before you build that fence?
Chertoff - Another of W’s Good Ole Boy Brigade. What has this guy ever really accomplished other than to preside over inaction. Can someone help me out. Am I missing something?
They mistakenly believe that we will give way in the face of violence.
Maybe they believe it because you are putting border agents in prison while welcoming the illegal aliens.

The Bush #43 administration killed him for he'd still be ALIVE if that 840 mile long border fence had been erected... like it was SUPPOSED to be!

What an eloquent statement of concern and compassion(sarcasm off now). This last year of the Bush & Cronies Administration is going to be a long year. They announced that they are planning to deport 200,000 illegals in 2008. I don't believe it, that is about 20 million too few and why did they not get in tune with deportations the previous 7 yrs? How many of these ?200,000? will walk right back across that fenceless border?
Thank God America doesn't border Gaza or Syria. Of course we are letting plenty of those people also.

Bush is forcing our Border Patrol agents to fight a PC war against Illegal's coming across the border, just like he's forcing our troops to fight a PC war in Iraq.
When Border Patrol agents use force, they wind up in prison just like Ramos and Compean. When our troops get ambushed and they fire on the Insurgents and their allies, they get Courts-Martialed.

Will this incident give any credance to Ramos and Compean getting an early release ?
Darth nailed it the new Border fence would have done alot to help prevent these incursions into our country, which from what I 've been reading happen often. The Mexican Military runs interference for the drug dealers, and these are the people we want to pick our lettuce ?

"I have spoken to the Mexican ambassador who gives me both his condolences and deep assurance that their government will be resolute in tracking down the perpetrators, and bringing them to swift justice."
And if you believe that, I have a nice Mosque here in N.VA I'd be happy to sell ya!

Jackoff needs to realize that we haven't done enough to keep the illegals out. Putting border patrol agents in prison for shooting an illegal (and a drug dealer) in the butt is NOT going to help recruit agents. They're recruiting all over the nation now because no one wants to do it. Too afraid of the repercussions for doing their job.
If we ran their borders, they'd shoot us and you know they would.
We've turned into wimps! Thank you so very much, liberal media, RINOs and dummycraps. Thanks for making us look bad to the world. Now go away and don't come back!

Michael Chertoff's feigned sympathy and support of the Border Patrol and feckless threats to bring the perpetrators to swift justice is a sick joke and an insult to anyone who believes in law and order, our democracy, and the Constitution. No Border Patrol agent should risk their life trying to protect the country until the President, Congress, and prosecutors (aka persecutors) change their ways and actually, by deed, vigorously support the laws that they swore to uphold. However, I won't hold my breath in this pro-criminal and illegal alien condoning PC society.

Darth, I agree, and having the other two agents in jail for doing their job has given the bad guys a power even if it is mentally. Very dangerous.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:09 AM
Tom, yes this year will bring more into our country thanks to no fence/wall or anything promised to stop them. Bush can toast his buddies in Mexico when he is done being President.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:11 AM
Bob, exactly it sure is backwards. It makes no sense at all. No excuses for it.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:12 AM
Mark yes and with all these murders it sure is expensive lettuce.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:15 AM
Yankeemom, LOL good one!!
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:16 AM
Lynn, I agree, your so right.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:17 AM
Les, yes he can't even come off sincere, because we know he isn't. I wish so much we could clean house of all these bad ones.
Posted by: Wild Thing at January 22, 2008 12:19 AM
What a load of crap. If there were any sincerity at all in Chertoff's words he would have not supported the President's open borders policies all these years. He personally is, in large part, responsible for that Border Patrol agent's death.
It is a crime and a sin to put good Americans in harm's way to keep the flow of illegal aliens and drugs flowing into our country. Chertoff does this every day.
