Networks Agree To Rare Simulcast Of Patriots - Giants Game
.
NBC & CBS to Air Patriots-Giants
The networks agree to rare simulcast of professional sports event
And also an article HERE
CBS and NBC have agreed to carry this Saturday's historic game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants in High-Definition.
The two networks will show a simulcast of the NFL Network's HDTV broadcast of the game, Seth Palansky, a NFL Network spokesman, told TVPredictions.com this evening.
Standard-def viewers will get the SD broadcast, the spokesman said.
The Patriots are seeking to be the first team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins to go undefeated for an entire season.
Until now, it appeared that millions of cable viewers would miss the game because Time Warner, Charter and Cablevision have refused to carry the NFL Network, which has the rights to the Patriots-Giants broadcast.
The cable operators say the network is demanding unreasonable terms to carry it.
But a league spokesman tells the New York Times that the network, which is owned by the league, approached CBS and NBC to carry the game and they agreed.
It will be the first time that two major broadcast networks will simulcast a NFL game since the 1967 Super Bowl.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
FINAL
38 New England Patriots
35 New York Giants
AWESOME win! The first undefeated NFL team in 35 years!
And hats off to the Giants, who played a helluva game to the end.
I really thought the Giants were going to win this, but then Brady shows why he is this decade’s Joe Montana. That throw to Moss was something.
Patriots Make History With 16-0 Season
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - With one mighty heave, Tom Brady and Randy Moss took care of the record books. Now it's down to business for the unbeaten New England Patriots: stamping themselves as the greatest team in NFL history. The Patriots completed a perfect if somewhat joyless journey through the regular season Saturday night, finishing with a remarkable 16-0 record following a thrilling 38-35 comeback victory over the New York Giants.
New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a comeback from a 12-point deficit engineered by the brilliant Brady, and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories.
Validation of their inexorable march through the season can only come by adding a Super Bowl championship, their fourth of the decade. Do that and there'll be no challenge to their spot at the top.

Comments
I guess CBS and ABC whined and whined until they got the simulcast. the NFL gave in, pity.
Here's a trivia question. How many .500+ teams did the Dulfins beat in 1972?
As far as I am concerned this hasn't come soon enough. I was hoping for the 85' Bears to do it but it wasn't to be, so hopefully the Patsies can do it.
Go pats

In the spirit of this holiday week I am hoping to see a bright star over Giants stadium Saturday night leading the way to the miracle of a Giants victory over the Patriots.

So would the networks simulcast during the Stanley Cup Final in The Montreal Canadiens were on the verge of their 25th Cup? Methinks not.
Serious hockey fan here.

Hockey Meister GMC - Les Habitants would be on Hockey Night In Canada ... for free in Mother Canuckerville. I adored the Habs in their four consecutive Cup years from '76-80! One year the Shutt-LeMaire-Lafluer line had over 160 goals between them! The reason the NFL Channel caved is because my Death Star II crew added pressure!
CBS and NBC suck and I wished FOX got the game.

Mark off the top of my head and this is only a guess for one of them, but maybe the Giants, and not sure even a little of the second one. hahaha I am terrible about remembering this stuff.

Les, this should be a good game I am looking forward to it.

GMCassel, I LOVE hockey, my Dad used to take me to Chicago to see Hockey games when I was a kid. Then I went to them in Los Angeles when I lived there. I haven't been to a game since, I miss it.

Darth, You nailed it talking about the Habs. They used to call Buffalo, Montreal South. They always had great skaters and fast.

The GIANTS lost but New England went back home a little ... sore. I'm sure their big fans - Ted Kennedy & John Kerry & Barny Bow Wow Frank will give them a few rub downs and massages! Congrats to a great team and a SMART team... except for that DB Harrison inmate! He's a classless thug that I hope a Jax Jaguar will ... hunt down.

Pats Rule !!!!! Cowboys SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!

The Giants played a better than expected game and gave New England a run for their money. However, it is not how you play the game, but who wins that counts. New England knows how to win.

Darth that is so cool! ..."I have a Blackhawks hockey jersey" LOVE it Wow how neat!

Darth, I would bet yes they will be sore for sure. It was a great game and the Giants can be proud of themseleves. They almost won.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 30, 2007 01:30 AM
Cowboy hater, I am glad you are happy.
I am glad the Pats didn't break their winning record, that is just so fantastic.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 30, 2007 01:32 AM
Les, yes your right, they do know how to win. But still I am very proud of how the Giants played. I think if I was playing for the Pats I would be glad too. It is boreing to watch a bad game and this was exciting and the Giants helped to make it that way.

This is what this country is all about. Believe me I am not a Patsie fan to the point I am a Bills fan.
In a couple of these past 16 wins the Pats have had to come from behind and win it. They personify the American spirit. As Patton said, 'America loves a winner they won't tolerate a loser'.
To me anyway, Belichick is the consumate field general, 'everybody will give 100 % or we don't need you here' and this is his take no prisoners attitude.
Go pats make it a perfect run.

Does 13-2 sound like Cowboys sucking? hah!
Go Cowboys!
Booo to the Brady Bunch!

"Does 13-2 sound like Cowboys sucking? "
Yeah sure does, they too were ahead of the Pats, but they just couldn't put it all together, could they ?
Son of Bum inherited a good team not a great team and he is running on 'the Tuna's fumes'. And if Jessica Simpson shows up the 'Boys' are toast.

Dallas has ... FIVE superbowl rings and the Pats don't? Remember Boston Patriots / New England Pats / Kraft Cheese Heads... John Kerry & Barny Frank & Ted Kennedy are your #1 fans? NY couldn't BEAT the refs on Saturday night either... but we played well. On to WT's Tampa Bay Buc babes !!! A lot of New Yorkers in Tampa, the springtime home of the Yankees!
Posted by: darthcrUSAderworldtour07 at December 31, 2007 12:11 AM
Mark, I wonder if Jessica Simpson was there today, maybe hiding in the locker room. The Cowboys played so badly.
