Edwards Plan To Enforce Health Insurance Mandate
Democratic Presidential Candidate Edwards Might Garnish Wages, Withhold Tax Refunds To Enforce Health Insurance Mandate
Kaiser Health network
Presidential candidate and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) on Thursday in an interview said that, under his health care plan, U.S. residents who can afford to pay for health insurance could have their wages garnished or tax refunds withheld in the event that they do not obtain coverage, the Des Moines Register reports. The proposal would require all residents to obtain health insurance, with federal subsidies available to lower-income residents.
Edwards also said that the proposal would enroll uninsured residents in health plans when they use the health care system or public services. He said, "So if you don't have health coverage, and you go to the emergency room, you get enrolled. If you are a five- or six-year-old and you go to kindergarten or sign up for school, you get enrolled, if you're not on a health care plan. If you go to the library, you get picked up."
He added,
"When somebody chooses not to be in our health care system, then what they're choosing is that the rest of America is going to pay for their health care"(Leys, Des Moines Register, 11/30).
Wild Thing's comment........
Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.
Edwars wants to force people to enroll in his health plan whether they want to or not. State mandated fascism at its finest.
What he said: “When somebody chooses not to be in our health care system, then what they’re choosing is that the rest of America is going to pay for their health care.”
What he meant: “When I force somebody to be in our health care system, then I’m forcing him to pay for someone else’s healthcare.”
If any of the Dems become president, I don't think anyone can stop socialized medicine. And it won't just be socialized medicine. They'll tax and spend us into a depression then build a billion bureaucracies to cope. It will be all socialism, as far as the eye can see.
A totalitarian socialist/communist to the core. The commie candidates Clinton, Obama and Edwards are all very similar. All leftist lawyers. All sitting or former members of the U.S. Senate. The only thing Edwards hasn't added to his agenda is gun grabbing.

What's the tax rate now? 15.3% for SS and 10% to 20% minimum withholding, that's 25% to 35% if you make minimum wage. I fully remember not having any legitimate deductions then being audited by the gestapo, that was while paying at the 60% rate. They target the productive the most, whether they be middle, upper middle or the wealthy class, I was sending more money into the coffers than I can ever dream about earning at my age. Edwards and company will bring all wage earners down to the same level regardless of productivity. Yep, it's here, socialism. The only thing difference is when you the producer get sick or need aid you'll be at the far end of the line, that 4th generation trough feeder will be ahead of you feeding in one end of the trough and defecating in the other.

So if someone chooses not to enroll in HIS health care plan the rest of the country will have to pay for it.
How is that different than what we are doing now. There are 40 Million Illegal Aliens collecting Health Care, Free College Tuition, Free Food all they have to do is show up and collect, no penalty, no responsibility, no hits no runs and the error is on us if we elect this left-wing slip and fall lawyer.

Jack, I can't remember, but I think (not sure) that it was Edwards too that wanted to raise the minimum wage a lot. I know when I had employees with my shop I was always worried about that happening. I wanted the right to pay them a lot on my own from their being great employees. I got lucky and was able to do that, but thank God it was not forced on me to have to start off with a higher pay keeping me from being able to give raises.

Mark, your right, I pray that the ambulance chaser does not win. I don't think he will, but in politics I am learning that I have been shocked enough times not to feel secure that he won't win. augh!

"The only thing Edwards hasn't added to his agenda is gun grabbing."
I think that Sen. Edawards IS a gun grabber, albeit a quiet one.
Sen. Edwards thinks:
1. The Brady bill should be extended and "beefed up" Quote: "I don't believe you need an AK-47 to hunt."
2.Quote: "I think it does make sense to have trigger locks for the purpose of keeping guns safe from children."

(Doesn't sound like it's all that bad, does it, but consider: just HOW does he propose to ensure that trigger locks are used?. and who in HELL determines HOW and where PRIVATE arms are stored w/o an overarching bureaucracy to enforce those regs? {think OZ type rules and police ability to enter w/o warrant to ensure compliance})
3.Voted NO on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (NO to stricter penalties for CONVICTED ofenders, but wanting greater restrictions/rules for LAW-ABIDEING citizens?)
