Murtha Spends Thanksgiving With The Troops~ WTF
Murtha finds military progress in trip to Iraq
Warns that Iraqis must do more for their own security
Post Gazette
WASHINGTON
U.S. Rep. John Murtha today said he saw signs of military progress during a brief trip to Iraq last week, but he warned that Iraqis need to play a larger role in providing their own security and the Bush administration still must develop an exit strategy.
"I think the 'surge' is working," the Democrat said in a videoconference from his Johnstown office, describing the president's decision to commit more than 20,000 additional combat troops this year. But the Iraqis "have got to take care of themselves."
Violence has dropped significantly in recent months, but Mr. Murtha said he was most encouraged by changes in the once-volatile Anbar province, where locals have started working closely with U.S. forces to isolate insurgents linked to Al Qaeda.
He said Iraqis need to duplicate that success at the national level, but the central government in Baghdad is "dysfunctional."
Mr. Murtha's four day-trip took him to a Thanksgiving dinner with troops in Kuwait last Thursday, and he then made stops in Iraq, Turkey and Belgium.
Wild Thing's comment........
(Murtha said) the central government in Baghdad is “dysfunctional.”
Pot, meet kettle.
" U.S. Rep. John Murtha today said he saw signs of military progress during a brief trip to Iraq last week..."
Who gives a rat's ass what you think you pork bellied fat treasonous bastard! Too bad you sucked up taxpayers' money for your utterly useless opinion!

Another phony politician doing a photo-op and some poor troops had to endure his self serving bullshit. Politicians should be barred from combat zones, even though it is always in the rear area. You can bet Mutha's entourage was large and his trip cost taxpayers more than a platoon of infantry.

This idiot makes me want to puke!!!! He is one of the biggest disgraces to our government, the military and the troops that ever lived!!!! You can bet he didn't risk his fat ass for anything!!!! I can only hope that he is as old as he looks and maybe won't be around much longer. I know that is a terrible thing to say but when I see great young men and women giving up their lives for us and then this scumbag disgraces them, it's long past time for him to go answer to his maker.

He still hasn't apologized for calling our Marines cold blooded killers.

This is off subject but I know folks here would find this of interest. I'm told from a blogger in Washington State that the reporter is a liberal but has great respect for the military

It's about the atrocious treatment endured by some Fort Lewis soldiers who were escorting the remains of a colleague home to Virginia earlier this month.

That SOB Murtha is just like Josef Stalin was at the end of WWII, he's just there to share in the victory spoils and take unearned credit.
BobF. I live smack dab in the middle of these pinko's. That's why I hope to never fly again, after 19 years of going through airport security every Wednesday at both ends of the flight it was hard not to kill some of those filthy maggots doing the shakedowns that we have forfeited our liberty and freedoms to. Mostly by non english speaking morons, they are as bad as, if not worse than the gotdam muzzies we are supposed to fear. Boot camp harassment was a joy compared to those lowlife bastards. I'm sick of the government harassment of law abiding citizens and the wholesale overlooking and abbetting of the muzzies and the criminals in the inner cities by these smarmy bastards.

You know what is sad is that this POS was allowed to enter a Mess Hall and be in the same room where men of Courage, Honor, and Moral Character were eating.
Kinda makes you wish George Patton was still around so he could slap the snot out of this traitor.

Damn WT you took the words right out of my mouth. And if anyone knows dysfunctional Murtha should, he has been dysfunctional for an awful long time.

Darth, it must have been hard for our troops to even look at this jerk Murtha.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:05 AM
Tom I agree, I have always felt that way about having politicians barred from combat zones.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:07 AM
John, I agree, he makes me sick. And I bet they even had extra guards for him in case he complained of not feeling safe and then blame the troops or something.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:11 AM
Bob, nope no he hasn't apologized for what he said. I don't think he ever will. He is so horrible.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:14 AM
Bob, OH my gawd how awful to treat our soldiers like that. Thank you for the information and link. I had not heard about this at all.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:20 AM
Jack, I agree so much.
You really went through it with them and know first hand how awful it can be.
Posted by: Wild Thing at December 1, 2007 12:28 AM
John 5 (VN69/70), good point, yes can you imagine how the troops felt when he walked in like that. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I would LOVE to see Patton be there and tell Murtha to get the heck out of there. heh heh

Mark, thank you, he sure is dysfunctional like you said. What a mess he is and what a mess he creates. He has a ton of things to answer for, I hope that day comes.
