The Apaches fought Mexicans also, and were very successful. They were one of many reasons Mexico wanted Anglo Americans to settle in Texas. Mexico could not get many of it's citizens to settle in the too wild and inhospitable Southwest.
Now look what's happening. Half of Mexico is trying to get into America.
