Pins Replace 'True Patriotism,' Obama Says

An eagle-eyed reporter for the ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, noticed something missing from Democratic presidential contender Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., lapels.
"You don't have the American flag pin on. Is that a fashion statement?" the reporter asked, at the end of a brief interview with Obama on Wednesday. "Those have been on politicians since Sept. 12, 2001."
The standard political reply to that question might well have been, "My patriotism speaks for itself."
But Obama didn't say that.
Instead the Illinois senator answered the question at length, explaining that he no longer wears such a pin, at least in part, because of the Iraq War.
"You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest. "Instead," he said, "I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism."
The Chicago Tribune's The Swamp blog reports that after it got several questions about the pin story, the Obama campaign released a statement from the senator.
"Patriotism to me, isn't what you wear on your lapel," he said. "It's what you carry in your heart. I don't need a pin to certify my love for this country."
In addition, The Swamp says that Obama spokesman Dan Pfeiffer said: "Like many Americans, he wore one after 9/11, but hasn't worn one in years."

Hussein Obama is no patriot. We know where the loyalties of a madrassah educated muslim lie. Obviously, wearing a pin is not “true patriotism”; it is only a symbol. do you think that Obama realizes that taking it off is a symbol, too? And not of patriotism, either.

What Obama IS saying is this:

It isn’t great because the United States became the breeding ground of innovation for the great minds of the world, who flocked here from their situations abroad and changed the world. Nope, it won’t be great until you elect my defeatist, blame-the-US-first, flag-hating, race-baiting, demogogue, no-executive-experience, Senator personage from the corrupt socialist republic of Illinois. So, that’s why no flag pin. OK?
Sure Obama, just keep telling us that YOU are the only person that can make this country great.

You just can't make this stuff up.
Bet you don't see this on CNN. Bush wasn't involved. But if this gets out,....it'l be Bush's fault.

Barack Obama identifies himself as black because other people see him that way even though he was raised by his white mother and her family. Sounds like he is ashamed of his white heritage.
Barack Obama says he stopped wearing an American flag pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Just because some people may use the American flag pin as a substitute for true patriotism Barack Obama changes his patriotism and is now ashamed to wear an American flag pin.
Seems like the wanna be leader of the United States is too influenced by what other people think and has no core values himself. I wonder if he is 1 of the 5 Dems in the following story.

Really, Obama is an idiot who Hillary will tear a new butt hole. Only a few years back he was a nobody in Illinois who only got elected because some liberal judge opened the divorce records of Jack and Jeri Ryan, something they both fought to keep closed.
He claims he was against the war back in 2003. Well back in 2003 he was some know-nothing legislature in Illinois. Who cared what he thought back in 2003?

He is Oprah's Chosen one and I still believe we'll see a Clinton/Obama ticket in 08. Expect Oprah to play a formidable role in the PR part of this campaign. I think they will pool their war chests and go after the female and black voters. That's a pretty deep well of constituents who have wanted "representation" in power despite the fact that neither of these self centered idiots will care about them one nanosecond after they secure their vote.

I agree with what you said about Barak Obama too. He is an empty suit and dangerous if he was elected because I truly believe he will cater to the enemy.

Bob, that is really something how he got elected like that. He is totally out of his league up against the likes of either of the Clinton's. All three of them are horrible, but Vine Foster or Ron Brown and a ton of others could give Obama pointers how not to cross the Clinton's.

The tail of ~UF93~ had an American Flag on it. The Twin Towers HAD an American Flag on them. The west side of the Pentagon HAD an American Flag on it. Our military troops and airmen HAVE an American Flag on their shoulders!!!
