Henry Waxman to Investigate Talk Radio

Henry Waxman D-Calif. is beginning investigations on Rush Limbaug, Hannity and Mark Levin.

Relevant paragraphs
Others on the Democrat side are pushing ahead with other plans. Rep. Henry Waxman has asked his investigative staff to begin compiling reports on Limbaugh, and fellow radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin based on transcripts from their shows, and to call in Federal Communications Commission chairman Kevin Martin to discuss the so-called "Fairness Doctrine."

"Limbaugh isn't the only one who needs to be made uncomfortable about what he says on the radio," says a House leadership source. "We don't have as big a megaphone as these guys, but this all political, and we'll do what we can to gain the advantage. If we can take them off their game for a while, it will help our folks out there on the campaign trail."

Wild Thing's comment........

When it smells like Stalinism, it is Stalinism. This rodent hasn’t done anything but conduct investigations since he got into office. Someone needs to tell Waxman to brush up on his First Amendment.

Here are two things Mr. Waxman had better keep in mind when going after talk radio:

1.Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

2. A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

I wonder which will happen first here in the U. S. - the War Against Islam or the open rebellion against the federal government?

Because they’re both coming.

Waxman makes Peter Lorre seem like Shirley Temple. This authoritarian goofball is doing the bidding of Frau Hillary. Liberals will do ANYTHING necessary to obtain power - that's how far they've fallen. This will not end peacefully.

I agree fully with Rhod...and WT, when she said "- the War Against Islam or the open rebellion against the federal government? Because they’re both coming".

There's over 100,000 prior service Marines ready for either. We WILL fight to re-establish our country from ALL enemies both foreign and domestic. There are even more Army, Navy and Air Force ready to defend. Hell, I know wheelchair bound CITIZENS who will fight. Not to mention the millions who would have liked to serve our country but could not.

America, wake up from your complacency and "inbred" party mentality. Take down the enemies of our land. I don't want another "Red Dawn" but were ready.

I forgot...look closely at Waxman's face. Are we talking "X-Files" or what?

Look out agents Scully and Mulder. You'll get terminal earwax and nose hairs from this guy.

Here they go doing unconstitutional things and taking our rights away.
Hey, if I wanted to listen to Howard Stern or Rush Limbaugh, that's my decision--just like it's someone else's if they want to listen to someone else.
Stop making this an unfree nation!
Do they really think I am stupid or something?
I can handle a radio by myself.
I'm a big girl now. I can buy my own dinner.

It is now clear that there are two 1st Amendments, and that includes the whole Amendment.

First, Hussein Obama, is free to mention religion and producing a 'Heaven on Earth', rigit here in River City ... and not be crucified in the press. Plosi says she is praying for Bush, Hillary is constantly trying to convince us that she is very religious, seems to be some pandering going on, on the left.

Second, there's the free speech part of the first amendment. It seems to be free as long as you don't speak against the democrats and as long as you agree with WHATEVER they say, and not question what they say. This can include, statements that amount to treason, giving aid and comfort to the enemy, protecting Illegals from tearing down the American Flag and burning it, and replacing it with the mixican POS.

But have a conservative like Rush respond to this treasonous rhetoric and actions then all of a sudden you have democrats talking about censoring talk radio (i.e., punishing someone for actually speaking their mind and really the Truth) because talk radio is not following the democrat party line. What it is doing is showing the real hypocrisy of the left and how they want to hide behind phony platitudes and slogans while stealing money out of your back pocket on the premise of saving some newly created victim group.

Talk radio is our last bastion of hope for getting the turht out. Once they silence that the internet can't be far behind. And Socialism/Communism will have made a triumphant return.

... would you trust him or Barny Frank to babysit your children, or Sandy 'Burglar' Berger to watch your home while you're on vacation? Or Bubba Clinton to be your step-daughter's uncle?

The older this guy gets the more is face resembles that of a pig.

Waxmans' been playing deep left for many, many years. Every time I see his pathetic puss on TV I think to myself "Hey maybe my ex wives really weren't that dumb".

On another blog, I read an interesting comment about the current state of affairs of the legal system in the US. The commentor likened it to a battle of Gladiators. The outcome has nothing to do with right or wrong, it as to do with who is the strongest. Instead of swords, it comes down to who is more energized, who is more articulate, who is better financed. Certainly the high profile criminal cases have borne that out, (ie; OJ, Robert Blake, etc....

Policy cases are more subtle and frequently sneak under the radar without our knowledge. This is not one of those cases nor should it be. The more daylight this gets, the more it should be apparent that this is a stupid idea for BOTH camps. It's a feel good exercise by the left to lynch high profile right leaning talk radio hosts. It's been said that since the bankruptcy of Air America, the left has resigned and commited itself to destroying the reputations of the Limbaughs and the Levins because it their only alternative. They can't compete in the world of ideas.

Fred Thompson wrote on his site yesterday that there was a time when this approach made sense. When the conduits of information were limited to a few networks, oversight and regulations were critical. However, with the expasion of radio frequencies in the 80's, and the parralell rise of the internet, the opportunity for central control or having a monopoly on information is far less threatening.

The left, after enjoying years of sympathetic coverage by the mainstream media is has gradually seen their conduit for propaganda erode, and they're not happy.

This is setting itself up to be an epic battle. Clearly, talk radio is dependant on personalities who are able to convey ideas through the content of their speech, not trumped up and often staged, though powerfull visual images. So, from a Gladiators standpoint, articulation goes to their corner. Television news, though clearly wounded, still represents a formidable foe and the advantage their would have to go to the left.Attorneys to fight the battle would seem to be a split since their services are prostituted by legal tender, which both camps seem to have an adequate well from which to pull from to quench the perpetual thirst of the lawyers.

That leaves two swords. The internet and the desire to win. Currently the internet seems to be left leaning but in a case like this, it would seem to be counter productive for anyone who regularly uses the net, once dubbed the information superhighway, to back a policy of limiting access to information in any form. I'd have to think that despite their hatred of Limbaugh, Levin, Savage , and Ingrahm, savvy net users would be content with voicing their objections or support of their ideas through blogging, rather than legislation.

Which leaves the sword of desire. It's up to us. It's up to us being willing to lend our undying support to fight this attack on free speech. It's up to us to keep it front and center until this ridiculous idea has been stabbed through it's heart by our sword.

That's all I have to say about that.

WT, my first thought also was Marxism. We are getting closer and closer to having the best government Socialists could wish for. We are poised to make the US Constitution an irrevelant document.

Sadly, more and more Americans are turning to government for all the answers. And government grows and grows. These people become more comfortable with and more dependent on govt., ala the hurricane Katrina debacle.

Now add in 20+ million more instant government supporters when the amnesty/free citizenship scam is pushed through and we are witnessing the death of the original intent of America as seen by the Founding Fathers.

Waxman, Pelosi, Hillary and the other socialists with lifelong careers advancing that socialist agenda are like cancer cells. Throw in the plethora of RINOs that are supposed to be the honest opposition and it would appear that only a popular revolution can reverse the tide. I don't think there will be a revolution. The recent pattern of voting shows that there are not enough people concerned or upset to involve themselves in anything as uncomfortable as a revolution. All bets are off though if the moslems hit us good and hard with another attack or series of attacks. Or if the socialists interfere with Sunday football.

As for Hillary and Berger, it's the old birds of
a feather trick. Now for Waxman if I had a dog with
a face like that there would be 2 choices,1 shoot the dog or shave his a$$ and make him walk backwards...

I would like to believe that a real War Against Islam and an open rebellion against the federal government is coming. However, I am concerned that an increasingly ignorant and stupid electorate (product of the public schools and liberal colleges) is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

Add to this a more radical far left wing Democratic Party plus a lost and impotent Republican Party and the country is turning into the new USSR -- United States of Socialist Republics. Woe is us in becoming the newest nanny-state!

SSgt Steve USMC, I pray none of it happenes. But it just seems like what else is left sometimes.

LMAO that is so funny.....Waxman does look like something from X-files maybe out near Area 51....."You'll get terminal earwax and nose hairs from this guy.".

Lynn, AMEN my friend.
I can't believe the nerve of this desire of what Waxman is wanting to do.

Posted by: Wild Thing at October 10, 2007 12:39 AM

Mark I agree so much, talk radio really is such a great way to hear a lot of things that are happening. We sure don't hear them on the news. Even Fox will many times be a couple of days late on things I hear on Laua Ingraham or Rush's show.

I just hate to see any freedom messed with at all. Let the people make their own decision to listen or not.

Posted by: Wild Thing at October 10, 2007 12:42 AM

Darth, all no's from me for any of those names. What a sick bunch they are.

Billy, good rant I agree.

And those yearbook photos.......LMAO hilarious.

Posted by: Wild Thing at October 10, 2007 12:47 AM

Tom, I had not thought of that. I only know personally people like all of you on here, that care a lot about what has been happening to our country. But there are tons of people that have no clue and could care less too.

"All bets are off though if the moslems hit us good and hard with another attack or series of attacks. Or if the socialists interfere with Sunday football."...oh yes don't mess with football.

Nick said remember when the movie Heidi caused such a stir when it was not aired because of a football game going overtime. It was a long time ago, but it shows how people only care about their own little world too.
