Video of Bush's Surprise Visit to Iraq and Democrats Can't Stand It

The Commander-in-Chief along with the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, and many high ranking generals, gave a speech to the troops in a surprise visit to Iraq. The sound is somewhat distorted by some of the applause and cheers from the troops in the audience

Bush Makes Surprise Visit to Iraq AL-ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq (AP) .....for complete article if you can stand the typical liberal writings of this article

President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq on Monday, using the war zone as a backdrop to argue his case that the buildup of U.S. troops is helping stabilizing the nation.

The president secretly flew 11 hours to Iraq as a showdown nears with Congress over whether his decision in January to order 30,000 more U.S. troops to Iraq is working. He landed at an air base in Anbar province west of Baghdad.

Next week, Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad, testify before Congress. Their assessment of the conflict, along with a progress report the White House must give lawmakers by Sept. 15, will determine the next chapter of the war.

Bush stopped in Iraq ahead of his visit to Australia for an economic summit with Asia-Pacific leaders. The trip was a closely held secret for obvious security reasons.

If this happened yesterday, why haven't I heard anything on the news about this on TV?

Hi Bob, Nick and I heard about it while Nick was switching channels and we saw it on Wolf Blitzer CNN. And it was also mentioned on Fox news.

Wolf got me so angry because he kept referring to Bush as "sneaking out".

The surge appears to be working and of course this is bad news for the surrendacrats, the more this news gets out the worse it will be for Harry 'Mr. Peepers' Reid.

If General Patreaus's report is good look for the dems to down play it as something other than what it actually is.

The dems are disgusting.(period)

I'm sure Wolf would have loved to give notice in advance of the President and his party arriving in Iraq.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't ever remember Bill Clinton visiting the troops in Somalia or any other theater of operation considered a hostile fire zone.

Remember this:" All the Way With LBJ." LBJ visited his 'boys' in Vietnam October 17, 1966, yet he never stayed the course. Seems that George Bush has broken that record in more ways than one, much to the chagrin of the press. Every president anguishes over the loss of troops they send into battle, this is Bush's third trip into the hostilities, unlike his predecessors.

I'm sure Wolf Blitzer is ticked that he never got the chance to tip off the enemy that Bush was coming and that Wolf's side missed another opportunity to eliminate that which they so desperately hate. I may disagree on Bush's domestic policies but he hasn't abandoned the troops yet. They deserve our total support and that of the president, not what happened to the men and women who served in Vietnam. God bless our troops and our president, when all the rest just want to cut and run.

That is so right Jack, we gave that SoB, LBJ everything we had and he quit on us.

Mark, I like the name for Reid you gave him. Mr Peepers haha

My guess is the Dems would rather have a root canal done then have General Patreaus's report.

Bob I think your right, I don't ever remember Clinton visiting our troops like that.

Jack your right, that is one area I am very glad about with Bush. I never had a feeling he did not care about our troops. He visits the injured ones as well and a lot of other things about our troops.
