If Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t start pulling troops out of Iraq, he doesn’t want to start paying them any more either.
After an amendment to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq within 120 days failed to receive the 60 votes needed to proceed, Reid set the entire defense authorization bill aside. By doing so, he shelved a 3.5 percent pay raise for all uniformed service personnel, $4 billion in equipment upgrades and a new program to treat traumatic brain injuries.
To increase pressure on Republicans to support the measure, sponsored by Sen. Carl Levin (D.-Mich.) and Sen. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.), Reid threw the Senate into an all night session on Tuesday evening that lasted through Wednesday morning. Levin-Reid fell eight votes short, 52-47.
“There are two things that I want to accomplish,” Reid told reporters immediately after the amendment vote. “One is to pass a defense authorization bill, but with a deadline dealing with Iraq. Once we put that together, we'll move forward on it.”

Stories like this of self serving politicians make me want to make assassination a duty rather than a crime, just call it a form of term limiting.
If this Reid/Pelosi show doesn't turn voters away from the Democraps in 2008, then there is not much hope for America. I don't want voters to avoid the polls. I want voters to turn out in mass for Conservatives, if we can get some true Conservatives in the races.

Jeez, I didn't even get a raise this year myself. My sup is almost exactly like Heartless Harry--then she got a 10% raise for keeping the budget under control.
But to even use a threatening tone like this is unforgivable. How are the troops families going to survive stateside? Does Harry think those paychecks are going over there? No. They stay here, with the families. My nephews was direct deposited into an account he could use if he wanted to. He chose to let it ride.
Let's just starve the troopers wives, husbands and children shall we? Is that a caring attitude?
But God forbid I can't buy that new Mercedes or another vacation home on some island in the south sea islands.
Those dummycraps are a waste of my time and my money.

They claim there poll numbers are down because of the republicans, maybe it is down because of the way they keep screwing everything up. And refusing to pay the troops will set their asses on fire as soon as the real Americans find out about this one.
The good news is this might be the shortest majority reign for the democrats. I don't think the American People will let another Vietnam scenario happen again. All Americans don't agree with the war but they sure try to support the troopps and when you start screwing them (troops) , there will be an ire, from the American people the democrats will not soon forget.

If they really believe the American people want them to pull funding, then getting such a law vetoed by the President should be the perfect means of assuring a landslide victory in '08.
They would campaign saying they acted in good faith, but need more Democrats to override the POTUS' veto. A veto would be proof that they need more Democrats in office to get the will of the people done.
Since they haven't done this, it makes me wonder what their polls are really telling them.

Our military should be a high paying salary and tons of benefits for life and for the best of care for the rest of their lives too.
