Swift Boat Vet supports Duncan Hunter
Swift Boat Vet supports Duncan Hunter
A Naval veteran who co-founded the group "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" says he will do whatever he can to help Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-California) become the next president of the United States.
John O'Neill, a co-founder and member of the group, says in 2008 he is campaigning for another Vietnam veteran who is running for the Oval Office -- Representative Duncan Hunter.
"He is a Vietnam veteran who I can really be proud of," says O'Neill. "I'm really happy to be able to be for someone instead of just being against someone. I'm going to do everything I can to try and help him out." And so are many of the people in the Swift Boat Veterans group, he adds, clarifying that they are doing so as individuals and not on behalf of the group.
O'Neill says he recognizes that the California lawmaker is a long shot, but so were the Swift Boat vets when they organized to stop Kerry in 2004. "The long-shot causes are always the causes most worth fighting for," he says. "That's what I believe in -- so I think he has a chance; and that's who I'm for."

Wild Thing's comment.........
Awesome. A real hero supporting a real hero. This will make Duncan Hunter a target of the libs who see the SBVT as the spawn of the devil. But they hate anyone that is good anyway.
I would love to see him do well.

Of course it will make him a target.
The dummycraps are the kids in the classroom throwing spitballs. But then not taking their fair share of the blame when something bad or wrong happens. It's always someone else's fault.
It's almost like if you run on the republican ticket, you have to have a bulls-eye painted on your back. It's almost obligatory. But thank God us Republicans have tough skin!

Duncan Hunter is my choice. Seems like everyone else mentioned as a possible Repub candidate smells of RINO with the possible exception of Fred Thompson. I would love to see a Duncan Hunter/John Bolton ticket. These would be proven Conservatives. Not the "compassionate" Conservative type!

Thats for sure Tom no more compassionate conservatives, Duncan Hunter is the real deal. If John O'Neil supports him that is good enough for me.
Fred Thomson and Tommy Thomson are good picks too. Again it is a tad too early to be making any predictions, and someone like Duncan Hunter can make a lot of progress in the next 8 months.
Guiliani already has put his foot in his mouth and will take something extraordinary to get it back out. McCain is a non-issue and Mitt Romney, Is still an enigma.

I'm tired of all the press thar Romney, Rudy, and McCain are getting. I'd like to see guys like Tancredo, Brownback, and Hunter get some equal press and exposure. They are closer to what Republicans are looking for in a Presidential candidate. Evidence the enthusiasm that Fred got just for saying he's thinking about running.

WT,
What is his stance on Iraq and the war on terror? All I can find on his "war on terror" stance is this.
"Fighting the War On Terror
“Our success in protecting America from terrorists is completely dependant upon our ability to obtain and utilize reliable intelligence data. Our national intelligence and defense communities must be provided with the tools necessary to identify, track, stop and prosecute terrorists before they have the opportunity to strike..........."

I agree 110% about intel but what is he going to do about the terrorists? What about Iraq?
I supported tancredo untill he pulled a kerry and flipped on Iraq and now wants to cut and run! Made me sick.
http://teamtancredo.com/issues.asp#Defense
My view on terrorism is that we fight and defeat these 7th century cave monkeys at all costs, PERIOD! Why keep pounding them into mush only to let them go to further chop off the heads of "infidels" tomorrow? Kill them ALL, NOW! If the saudis keep churning these monsters out then we need to be standing in every muslim nation putting the boot up their ass until they are exterminated.
Give me the candidate that will get rid of these home grown terrorists that live in places like michganistan America.
That is my opinion.

Lynn we sure do, we have learned the hard way from the left about their many lies about the Rep. and their many attacks.
Posted by: Wild Thing at April 8, 2007 12:31 AM
Tom, I like him a lot and the more I read about him the more I approve of Hunter. I like Fred Thompson too but we will have to see what happens. Hunter is getting a marvelous response so there is hope.

Mark I agree, I am so sick of voting for a rhino because that is the only we have listed as a Rep. to vote for. I know it is a ways off but when they said the first primaries will be in January I don't think it is too early anymore to start reading up on all of them.
You are so right about Rudy and McCain what a huge mistake that would be to have them. yikes.
Posted by: Wild Thing at April 8, 2007 12:34 AM
razOr, yes those you mentioned ( Rudy and McCain) sure get a ton of press. It is like the media even prefer them over their own Dems and how scary is that. Huge yikes
