Prayers For Our Friends In Texas
DALLAS - A severe storm dropped nearly a foot of snow on parts of the central Plains Friday and spawned at least one tornado in Texas, where one death was blamed on high winds.
The storm shattered glass at a Forth Worth grocery store, injuring five people, while a man unloading his truck elsewhere was crushed under his load of lumber, fire spokesman Lt. Kent Worley said.
In nearby Haltom City, several homes and businesses were damaged and about a dozen tractor-trailers were pushed onto their sides. The Valley Missionary Baptist Church there was destroyed.
About 23,000 customers were without power Friday because the storms downed trees and power lines, said Gailee Cardwell, a spokeswoman for TXU Electric Delivery.
The storm also forced the cancellation of NASCAR Nextel Cup qualifying races at Texas Motor Speedway. Thousands of fans were advised to move to safety as tornado sirens blared at the speedway in Fort Worth.

Most definitely, we pray for our friends.
My daughter has a friend in college in that area. North Texas state, I believe. He is a junior this year, so we do hope all is well with him. He is a very good young man, decent and kind.

Hi Lynn, I hope he was ok too. I always worry about people I know in various areas, when I hear of storms and things going on.

We are basically OK here in Dallas/Ft Worth. The NASCAR event at Texas Motor Speedway is back on schedule. One of the tornados touched down in a large lake about 2 miles from me. Other than the tornado threats the storm was more like one of our regular Spring severe storms. Not to poke too much fun because we were lucky compared to what might have been.

Tom I am so glad all is ok. I agree it could have gone a different way. I did see some photos of huge semi's in a parking lot turned over, but I forget exaclty what city it was...a little north I think not sure.
Yipee me too I hope Jeff Gordon wins.
