So they want to impose demands on the President?
Didn't they do this to his dad with the "no new taxes?"
They'll roll it in with something we want repealed, like the death taxes and the marriage penalty and since he has no "line item veto," he'll be damned if he does and damned if he don't.
That's just their speed--screw the President and make themselves look good.

Lynn, I never knew how they did this kind of thing before till a few years ago. How they add in things to a larger bill etc. Lots of piggy back stuff happening and not all good at all.

Spending riders added to other bills has been a favorite tactic of Democraps. They can get all kinds of feel good pet projects done to impress their voters. These sneaky riders are what help drive up the deficeit. Republicans started doing the same thing when they became the majority in Congress. Republican voters are are more honest, and this is one of many reasons the voters did not vote these Repubs back into office in '06.

Tincan sailor - at present there is no presidential line item veto, though there was one voted in by a Repub majority Congress for a short while during Clinton's reign. There may well be one approved if the Dems control Congress and win the White House in '08. That way they can totally control the budget and keep any repub inititive from going anywhere.

Any veto from Bush would be a breath of fresh air, but I wouldn't put any money on him.

It's really important to keep raising our voices over the Dems delusional (yes, WT, they are delusional) screechings of "we support the troops" as they stab them in the back again, and again, and again on their way to "getting Bush". They are a disgrace.

We need a President with Balls of Solid Rock! One who will stand up to these looney podunk country leaders and tell them NO MORE! Tell them to make it work in their country by themselves. If we had to do it, then they can too! Many of us are descendants of those sent here to die in the wilderness, but we adapted, struggled and survived and we are all the better for it.
Obviously us conservatives have our work cut out for us. It's a win at all costs, because if we lose, God help us all!!!!!! There will be no more America the Beautiful--we'll all be comrades or praying to Allah. And I don't want that for me, my children or my descendancy.
