Pelosi: Bush Lacks Authority to Invade
apnews....complete story at link
WASHINGTON
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that President Bush lacks the authority to invade Iran without specific approval from Congress, a fresh challenge to the commander in chief on the eve of a symbolic vote critical of his troop buildup in Iraq.
Pelosi, D-Calif., noted that Bush consistently said he supports a diplomatic resolution to differences with Iran "and I take him at his word."
At the same time, she said, "I do believe that Congress should assert itself, though, and make it very clear that there is no previous authority for the president, any president, to go into Iran."
But Bush took a swipe at his critics during the day.
"This may become the first time in the history of the United States Congress that it has voted to send a new commander into battle and then voted to oppose his plan that is necessary to succeed in that battle," the president said.
The Senate unanimously confirmed Lt. Gen David Petraeus last week to take over as the top U.S. commander in Iraq.
Wild Thing's comment.......
OK this is weird, I have not heard Bush say he was going to attack Iran...not yet.
I thought Bush had every authority he needs to protect the troops and the Country. Pelosi does not have the authority to stop him from doing either. Even though she wants her airplane better yet broom. Because she is third in line...I am so sick of the liberal dems today and the comments they read..I could just puke. They are the biggest bunch of traitors this Country has ever seen.
Pelosi is not only a biased liar, she cannot read. The military authority that Congress voted for President Bush in 2001 did the same thing that Congress authorized for President Jefferson two centuries before. Both times, Congress authorized the use of "military force" across "international boundaries." And Pelosi voted for both of the authorizations that Congress gave to Bush.
If she wants it to be different, she can introduce a Joint Resolution to change that. Instead, she's trying to lie her way out of the box she's in. However, she's right on the mark to count on the press to cover for her dishonesty.
I would reply to Speaker Pelosi, "And if Mahmoud Ahmadinejad erases Israel from the face of the Earth with his "peaceful" nuclear weapons, can we count on the Democratic Congress to stand by their decision to permit it? Let's just get it on record that the Democratic Congress approves of the continued nuclear ambitions and overt threats of a madman."
What a bunch of morons. The way to win this war is to stop trying to keep everybody happy. It is war after all, people die on both sides. We need to LET THE DOGS OF WAR OUT! This new strategy is already working. Check out the following site for additional information.

We haven't made that decision to go to war with Iran yet. She's jumping the gun--putting the cart before the horse.
Don't they realize, though, that if that were to happen, it's better to fight them over there than have to fight them in our own backyards.
Our children and our descendancy deserve better. I think it was Ronnie who said we could plunge our children into a thousand years of darkness or sunlight depending on what we do today? I prefer the sunshine.
Nancy needs to realize she ain't Queen B of the Universe and the world doesn't revolve around her big old backside.

Lynn you right, no way has Bush said anything like she is mouthing off about. I like what you said about the sunshine. Yes I think it was Reagan.
I will never understand how Dems think, I want our country protected, secure, safe not only for us but for the future too.

President Ahmadinejad's views are summarized on this website: ahmadinejadquotes.blogspot.com

If Bush has declared war on Iran then why is Rice still negotiating with Iran through the auspices of the U.N., the Democrats preferred tool? Nancy is saber rattling just like her predecessor Josef Stalin. Let's see Al, I'm supposed to believe your summarizations above all the world's media interpretations of Bentintheheads statements, including those interpreted and printed by the following:

Some of us get our news from more than one source Al, including blogsites if only they were read, when a madman threatens the use of nuclear destruction upon his neighbors, I and the rest of the rational citizens of this world pay attention to that threat. We don't sugar coat or twist the truth to fit any warped sense of reality. BTW Al, I don't give a good rat's ass about Ahmadinejad's views.

Poor Democraps. The darn Constitution keeps getting in their way. If they rule long enough, and a couple more Liberals get on the Supreme Court that silly ole' Constitution will be taken care of.

Ahmaweeniejob is a twit and since when does the United States even care what that little sawed off misfit has to say anyway.
When he sits at the big table do they put a telephone book under him so he can reach the table ?
This thing with congress is getting nasty, they are trying to usurp the power of the President, and to hell with the constitution. If the democrat brain was as big as their ego they might even get a clue. So much for the oath of office they took to uphold and defend it.
They have whined about this war for the past two and a half years. Did they ever once think had they gotten behind the President, and put politics aside, this WAR might be over.
Yeah right ... then no issue.

Al's in Canada, of course. Anyone without the interest in going to al Iranidog's site, be advised that Ahamdinejad is now our savior. He's transcended mere life and can now threaten to exterminate five million people in the name of Allah, and be purified by his hatred. Interesting religion, to say the least.
