Part of the story is that both fire/rescue and the Dutch Army tried with boats to drive the horses to dry ground, but failed. Then four women on horseback were able to get the herd to follow them to dry ground.

Thanks WT, most people never think of livestock when a catastrophe hits, these are some lucky horses, they're good swimmers but not for long distances. A happy ending!!!

Tom that is so neat, what a marvelous story it is. The kind of thing that stays inside a person for a long time.

Jack I agree, I alwasy remember how it was when we lived in Malibu, Ca. and there was a horrible fire there. The news told very little about all the horses that lived in the canyons and how they died in the fire. And not only horses, but dos, cats, and wild animalsd in the mountains there. It was so very very sad. It broke my heart knowing what had happened.
