U.S. Army NASCAR driver Joe Nemechek

U.S. Army NASCAR driver Joe Nemechek was presented a copy of A Million Thanks by Shauna Fleming, the 16-year-old founder of A Million Thanks, prior to Sunday's (Feb. 26) Auto Club 500 Nextel Cup race in Fontana, Calif.

What began as a community school project for Shauna at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., has turned out to be national in scope. Since she began the letter writing campaign two years ago, Shauna has received more than two million letters of thanks for the American men and women in uniform who are stationed overseas.

She presented the one millionth letter to President George W. Bush at the White House in November, 2004.

TomR mentioned in a comment about NASCAR's Joe Nemechek's US Army Chevy. I had not heard about it so I looked it up and found this totally cool story. Gosh I love things like this happening. Americans loving and appreciating our troops.

Thank you Tom

Chrissy, I did not know about this "A Million Thanks". How you get all your information is beyond me, but you are a genius. This is a good story involving many people. I also find it nice to hear of Americans like Shauna Fleming and Joe Nemechek loving and appreciating our troops.

Her blog needs to be spread around the internet...I have posted this site on other boards that I visit. Her layout is beautiful and very well constructed. I wish I could do what she does....but alas I am not tech savvy enough. My generation didn't grow up with this growing phenomena and we have had to learn FAST so that we will not be left behind. I forced myself to buy the latest new fangled mobile phone the other day......I am still cursing!!!!! lol lol lol..... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!

Lyn - I am one of those who can't figure out all the progamming on a VCR or DVD and curse whenever I have to reset a watch. And I thought technology was supposed to make life "simpler"??

Lyn in Australia , hahahaa me too. I got a new cell phone and it says that I can text message. I have no clue how to use that kind of thing. And I don't even know anyone else that has it if I did know how to do it back and forth to them. hahahahaha
