Democrats Want Withdrawl in 4 -6 Months
Start U.S. Iraq withdrawal in 4-6 months: Democrats
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats, who won majorities in the U.S. Congress in last week's elections, said on Sunday they will push for a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq to begin in four to six months.
"The first order of business is to change the direction of Iraq policy," said Sen. Carl Levin, a Michigan Democrat who is expected to be chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee in the new Congress.
Levin, on ABC's "This Week," said he hoped some Republicans would emerge to join Democrats and press the administration of President George W. Bush to tell the Iraqi government that U.S. presence was "not open-ended."
Bush has insisted that U.S. troops would not leave Iraq until the Iraqis were able to take over security for their country.
"We need to begin a phased redeployment of forces from Iraq in four to six months," Levin said.
Speaking on the same program, Sen. Joseph Biden, a Delaware Democrat who is expected to head the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he supported Levin's proposal for a withdrawal.
Wild Thing's comment.......
Just thinking about how ironic all of this is....... they are talking about phased withdrawal. Meanwhile, in real life, we have eleven warships steaming to the gulf to counter Iranian bids to form an alliance. And Israeli intelligence says Syria is planning war with rearmed Hezbollah.

I'll take the first hour of America's suicide watch. This is the beginning of the next great calamity in the war in front of us.

The only thing preventing America's enemies from advancing in great strides the next two years would be their own incompetence.

Rhod and TomR you both have a frightening true assessment of the real outcome. The new Dhimmocrat Congress will start with the BDS witch hunts and sham trials all the while making concessions and appeasing the ragheads.
I have this mental image of the new administration.
Run Coward Run!!!

Unfortunately, Jack, a sadder and not funny image comes to my mind:

Sadly, at this point I can't blame Mr. Maliki and other Iraqi political leaders for cutting deals with Moqta Al-Sadr. If the Commiecrats turned Dhimmicrats are going to cut and run, why shouldn't they?

The lines of demarcation between this bunch, and those who voted for them, and those who didn't, are clearer than ever. And the things we see now are horrifying.
The Iraq War is only one issue within the issues of American security and prestige in the world. These leftist idiots made a big deal about American "prestige", and the damage done to it by the war.
They included in their perception of damage the usual whining about the opinions of the French, the Germans and the useless Eurotrash among them who won't fight for the culture left to them after WWII.
Well, American prestige will disappear entirely when the free world, what's left of it, perceives that we're not serious about maintaining the standards we pretend to respect.
And our enemies are watching, and we have enemies everywhere.

Nick Byram, that is what is happening I think. They want to survivie and this is all they know how to do.
Thanks for the link.

Rhod, we sure do, our enemies are all around and they are watching like you said too.
Posted by: Wild Thing at November 13, 2006 09:03 PM
I agree with Nick Byram - they've been watching to see if we are going to leave them high and dry - they aren't stupid or suicidal. Afterall, we did it to the South Vietnamese, why wouldn't we do it to them.

In 1975 we pulled out of Vietnam, with a 'Peace with honor', then Nixon resigned, and Ford took over, and then Kennedy and his commie pal Kerry began their dirty work. IN subverting the agreement with RVN government, Ford begged Kennedy to comply with the agreement, he would not and all aid and support promised to stave off the NVA from overrunning South Vietnam was cut off, hence the rise of Pol Pot's slaughter house and the South Vietnamese were slaughtered by the NVA.
With the telegraphing of our NEW strategy in Iraq, i.e., 'Cut and Run', we are now inviting the terrorists to our own shores, we have shown the enemy that once our nose is bloodied we will quit a fight, hnece the re-emergence of the paper tiger. As Osama believed after Clinton cut and run from Somalia.
The left has been whining for a few years that this war is not worth the cost, but if we cut and run now, then the lives of those men who gave their all for their country, will surely be for nothing.
This move by the leftist-weenies, will do nothing to further our cause, which was to establish a beacon of light in a very dark part f the world, but embolden the enemy to continue their attacks on the innocent, and bring the war home to us here in the United States and shame on us if we do not defend Israel.
For two and a half years, the left has lied to the American people, they have slandered our President, our troops and our effort the press has re-enforced these lies, day after day, the press has leaked Military Secrets to the point of being treasonous. We are fighting two enemies, the one in Iraq and the most treacherous one at home. No country can win a fight like this.
So where do we go from here, I don't know, just keep your rifle clean and plenty of ammo. Because if and when we pull out that will not be the end of the war.
