Most of the people who are against the U.S. weren't even born when this happened and the sad truth is a lot of them are Americans. The privileged and protected have no clue of their fate if we lose to the evils of Islam, neither do the Communists.
The atrocities of the Taliban and the barbarous acts of the remaining Islamo-fascists don't appear to phase the American public. They need to see the actual scenes, hear the sounds and smell the scent of death to grasp reality, not the sanitized BS the media presents. It all goes back to two things, the notion that we can negotiate with these beasts and that they can coexist peacefully amongst us. Neither is possible, it's better to have them at your feet than at your throat.

Wasn’t this when Jimmy Carter tried to invade Iran with a few helicopters and a couple C-130’s?
One of the “students” who attacked Sovereign American Soil (US Embassy) is now the President of Iran. You would have thought us and the world would realize who and what were dealing with in Iran.

Carter should never have gotten out of the peanut business. If we had dealt forcefully with the radical Islamic threat posed by Iran in 1980, I suspect Saddam Hussein would not have ever been an issue. But no, we were worried about the reaction in the Muslim world. In Reagan's defense , if you recall, he had a military in disrepair when he came to office. Thankfully, under his watch, he rebuilt it to allow Bush 1 an overwhelming victory driving the Iraqi's out of Kuwait and protected the Saudi Kingdom from the inevitable Iraqi invasion. However once again, out of fear of annoying the Muslim world, we did not march to Baghdad and bring the matter to a close. Instead, out of fear of annoying the Muslim world we allowed the Iraqis to shoot at our pilots for 10 years. Imagine if Hitler would have lived. Do you think we'd have let the Germans attack us for 10 years after signing an armistice? Or Japan? Then, instad of coming out in front of the American people and saying Hey, enough is enough, we go back in under 'The weapons of mass destruction' logic, achieve an overwhelming military victory and refuse to bring this matter to a decisive close. In the first place, 10 years of being shot at should have been enough of a reason to get the American public behind the effort, yet we have to overcomplicate our reasons so as 'not to offend the Muslim world'. We have troops in Iraq, fighting gallantly, but getting picked off each day. Three one day, five the next. We have China, CHINA, today signing an Weapons for OIL pact with the Saudi's. Remember China, the country that vetoed our effort to protect the Kingdom the first time around? We have troops fighting and dying in Afghanistan, trying desperately to bring the terrorists who attacked our homeland to justice but are not allowed to cross the border into Packistan to accomplish their mission because we are afraid of annoying the Muslim World. We have Iran openly threatening the existence of the US and Israel and aquiring the tools to do just that and yet we talk of political pressure and sanctions because we are afraid of annoying the Muslim world. How about this, America, wake up. Put 500,00 troops back into Iraq. Bring the insurgency to a screaching halt. Put 250,00 more in Afghanistan. Send several carrier groups to the Gulf to protect the shipping lanes. Then look down the barrel, and tell that little punk in Iran to back off ...NOW. Send a message to the world that the US will not be intimidated. Send a message to Chavez and Kim Jong Il that they are next. We can't be the world's policemen, but we can and we must protect our interests. We are not dealing with diplomats, we are dealing with liars, dictators thieves and murderers. The last time I looked I didn't see ANY country basing their foriegn policy on whether or not it would annoy the Americans. The least we can do is show them the same respect. Have a nice day.

WildThing-
Thank you for all the hard work you put into that webpage- it is very informative, though I remember my Uncle talking a lot of this, and have read a lot about it, your attention to detail, and the chronology of events is excellent.

Hi SouthernDoll, thank you. Sometimes when things confuse me I have to lay them out in some kind of order to understand the why's and how it all happened. Thanks again so much.
