I Love Happy Endings ~ Georgia Senate Defeats Fonda Resolution
The Georgia Senate voted 38 to 1 to defeat a resolution that would have honored Jane Fonda's charity work in the state.
ATLANTA (March 16) - Jane Fonda's 1972 trip to North Vietnam is haunting her again. The Georgia Senate on Thursday nearly unanimously defeated a resolution that would have honored the actress' charity work in the state.
The Democratic sponsor had tried to withdraw the resolution after a rocky reception from colleagues and a phone call from Fonda's office, but a Republican leader forced a vote, saying members of his caucus wanted to go on record against it.
Fonda, who is out of the country, had asked for the resolution to be withdrawn to avoid the controversy, said the sponsor, Sen. Steen Miles of suburban Atlanta.
The effort was defeated 38-1, with even Miles voting against it.
The resolution cited the Atlanta resident's work as founder of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, donations to universities and charities, and role as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations.
But Fonda's political activities protesting the Vietnam War, including a trip to North Vietnam in 1972, have long made her a target of veterans.
"I can think of no living American who is less worthy of this honor," Republican Sen. John Douglas declared. "She is as guilty of treason as Benedict Arnold and Tokyo Rose."
Miles argued that Fonda's good works should outweigh the negatives.

Someday Ms. Fonda will have to explain her actions to her Maker. No amount of money, power or fame is gonna help her dodge that one.

The greater shame is the fact that one of those traitors is in the U.S. Senate from the State of Massachussetts. Both Hanoi Jane and John Kerry need be held accountable and punished for treason not treated as celebrities. We need more like Senator John Douglas that will step to the fore and call a spade a spade. Both scenarios make you rethink the title of 'Honorable' prefacing the addressing of Senators. Until they act to remove Kerry and a few more un-Americans from their midsts I'll not think of them as honorable, harboring these traitors is dishonorable.

Is there no moral banality too low or simplistic for a Democrat? A person outweighs his negatives by a simple thing called Redemption, which (religious or not) is a rejection of a former self and the substitution of a new one. No felon is eligible for parole without admitting to the crime, and no one gets into the Baseball Hall of Fame with unadmitted gambling hanging over his head.
Fonda has never acknowledged her treachery or balanced the scales, either. Her brief fit of "guilt" over appearing on an NVA AA Battery was "embarassment" that "Henry Fonda's daughter" would do such a thing. Welcome to the club, you yammering degenerate bitch!
Fonda continues to swim in the latrine of her political views; nothing has changed, and it never will. But she can't beat the reaper, and I hope to outlive her and celebrate that day.
