$3,000,000.00 flows from Iran to Hamas each year alone. Much of Hamas's financial backing comes from wealthy Palestinian expatriates and private donors living in the West and from Saudi Arabia and other oil-rich Persian Gulf nations.

The organization operates a complex network of fund-raising activities that focus on raising money for charitable activities. Some of the money is raised through Western-based Hamas aid agencies such as the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation, the Palestinian Development and Relief Fund based in Great Britain, Germany's Al-Aqsa Foundation, and France's Comité de Bienfaisance et Solidarité avec la Palestine. Funds donated through these organizations are ostensibly for charitable purposes, including funding sewing and weaving centers and cattle farms. But Western intelligence sources have determined that some of the aid earmarked for "orphans and the needy" is distributed to families of Hamas suicide bombers and those in Israeli prisons arrested for terrorist activities. In December 2001, President George W. Bush issued an executive order freezing the U.S. assets of individuals and groups with links to Hamas. But the money still flows from all over the world, the UN, etc.

In addition to funding its military or terrorist operations, Hamas devotes much of its $70 million annual budget to an extensive network of social services, which includes schools, orphanages, mosques, health care clinics, soup kitchens, and sports leagues. According to Israeli scholar Reuven Paz, approximately nine-tenths of its funding is for social, welfare, and educational activities. Since the Palestinian Authority often fails to provide such services, Hamas's efforts in this area further explain much of its popularity.

Hamas does this to exploit the PLO's failings. Political not humanitarian motives here.

The PLO's motive has been to keep the people suffering and blame Israel, and the west. Pissed off folks are more motivated to strap on explosives to kill infidels.

Happy, well fed, with access to medical treatment, education, jobs, folks are less likely to seek martyrdom.

In no way should we fund these people, they have plenty of funds flowing in to support terrorism and political agendas. It's time for them to take responsibility for their own. They won't because that would help defuse the anger and hatred of the people that need humanitarian aid.

Is Carter just like an ostrich with it's head in the sand? Or is his head stuck in another part of his anatomy?

Carter proves that, as you age, you becomes a narrower and more concentrated version of yourself, with all your worst qualities in the foreground. Having no good qualities at all, Carter is now as appealing as an open cess pool on a hot Georgia day.

Being wrong is one thing, being a complicit, dictator-kissing, slimebag is another. The Palestinians can do none of the things he mentioned because of the fucking UN! Sorry, WT, but sixty years of subsistence funding, false promises, low expectations and incompetence have had a Darwinian effect on the Palis.

Palis with drive, ambition, imagination and guts have gone elsewhere, leaving the lowest and least of the breed behind, swimming in a sink of despair and hatred without the ability to remove themselves. This is also Carter's doing, and one hopes there is a God and a hell deep enough for this loathesome, murdering, appeasing, Quisling monster. I have never hated a man more than I hate Carter, and there is no death hard enough for him..

Carter gave the Panama Canal away, as tho it was his to do so. Can't we give Carter away, to someone, anyone, somewhere?

Clinton is following in Carters footsteps, in his trashing of America while on overseas money earning junkets.

And WT, if Hillary becomes Prez., we will have someone to hate like we have never hated someone before.

Hi Tom, VERY true!!

(sick and angry feeling in stomach) thinking of Hillary becoming President. UGH! God help us!

If I made a list of Presidents I hate it would be Carter and right after him Clinton.

I bought my first computer because I could not stand it and had to get online to rant about Bill and Hillary and then I also ranted about Carter.
